About Us

Robert Kuhn is an independent filmmaker, special effects makeup artist, and founder of Unknown Pictures. He studied Industrial Design Technology at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh from 1994 to 1997 and further developed his skills in special effects makeup through the Dick Smith Professional Make-Up Artist Course.

Over the course of his career, Robert has contributed to a variety of independent film productions, with credits including The Barn, Cryptids, 10/31, Forced to Fear, and Treaters. In addition to his work in practical effects and production, he directed a segment of the anthology film Cryptids, expanding his experience behind the camera as both a filmmaker and storyteller.

Unknown Pictures operates at the intersection of traditional craft and modern innovation. Robert brings a hands-on approach to every production, combining meticulous practical effects work with a director’s eye for narrative and atmosphere. Each project is built from the ground up with a commitment to authenticity, creativity, and the kind of passion that only independent filmmaking can sustain.
